The 19th annual Dave Rayner Fund dinner took place once again at Bradford’s Hilton Hotel. Over 350 diners joined riders who havebeen helped by the fund and a
plethora of star guests, including Dan Martin, Alistair Brownlee, Ben Swift, Ian Stannard, Josh Edmondson, Russ and Dean Downing
During the evening funded riders and VIP guests were recognised and interviewed by TV commentator Anthony McCrossan, with plenty of banter taking place amongst the riders. The value and benefit of the fund, was brought home through their comments , many saying how the monthly award had enabled them to concentrate on racing and training rather than worry about where the next meal was coming fromAs always the generosity shown by supporters of the fund was magnificent both on the value and quality of items donated for auction and raffle and with the bids on the night
A far cry from the first foray into continental racing from Tour Pioneer Robinson, whose memories of life in the peloton with Coppi, Anquetil and Simpson were welcomed by all.
Next year sees the 20th anniversary of the Fund which will take place on the 8th of November (TBC) and promises to bring something special from the committee.
