Joe Kirkham

Is the first time you have had support from the DRF? Yes this is my first time?

What is your cycling history ? (how long have you been cycling?, who introduced you to cycling, which club are member of  in the UK?) I have been cycling for 8 years, Tracey Fletcher ( A keen cyclist and Cycle-cross womens veterans National Champion as of 2014 who is from my village) introduced me to cycling, I have been part of Vc Long Eaton cycling club for the last 8 years but for the past 2 years they have been my second claim club as I have been riding for Hargrove Cycles. As a youth I was national u14 cyclocross Champion and then went on to win a national seriesMountain bike race at Margam park, when I was an u16 I won the Midland Cyclocross Championship 2 years in a row and won a round of the National Cyclocross Series at Mallory park. As a Junior I have represented Great Britain for Cyclocross in Koksijde at the World Cup but I have mainly put my focus into Road racing where I have managed to win a Junior Belgium Kermesse and a round of the Junior National series at Hog Hill as well as a few more lower category races, now I am moving up to the u23 racing scene and look forward to the opportunity I have been given to race for Team Bricquebec Contentin, I am also very grateful to have support from the Dave Rayner Fund.

What team are you joining in 2014? Tell us a bit about your team (any notable riders, famous DS anything like that)

Team Bricquebec Cotentin: I’m not sure about the other riders to be honest, all I know is I will be riding alongside fellow Brit Brennan Townshend, a fair lot of French Lads also there will be one Italian, one Japanese and one Canadian rider. The team is well funded and all the people involved in running the team are volunteers which I think is really good.

Have they a website we can link to?

What is your race programme looking like?

The race program is looking pretty exciting to me at the moment, I think nearly all the races will be around Normandy and the longest races we will do will be around 170km

Are you going on a training camp with the team?

There will be a training camp when I get out there on the 20th January it has not been specified what sort of thing we will be doing though yet.

When are you heading out to Europe/USA?

I head out on the 17th January and I expect to start racing on the 18th of February

Tell us your FaceBook and Twitter names and any blogs or website links.

On Facebook you can simply find me by typing in Joe Kirkham and then looking for the guy riding a bike ;). Twitter is a bit more complicated type in @kirkham_joe and I should pop up.
