Is the the first time you have had support from the DRF?
No, I have been very lucky and grateful to have been supported by the DRF the previous 2 seasons I have been in Belgium.
What is your cycling history ?
I have been cycling most of my life but first started racing when I was 16. My uncle, Roger Dunne, raced abroad when he was younger and was basing himself in Luxembourg and then France. So I grew up going out on rides with him and hearing all the stories. I always knew I wanted to do the same and have my own adventures on the bike, so I have him to thank for getting me into this mad sport!
I am a member of Hemel Hempstead CC and Glendene CC, both clubs have been a massive help. I always went out on the Hemel CC club run where I met Gavin Atkins: I have him to thank for so much stuff it wouldn’t all fit on this page.
What team are you joining in 2013?
I will be riding for the same team I have been with the last 2 seasons: VL Technics – Abutriek. I feel at home there, the team has a great programme, the management are very well organised and I get on really well with my team mates. The team is a top competition team, which means they get starts in all the big Belgium Amatuer races and a good number of 1.2/2.2 races in Europe. It also means I can start in Pro Kermesses, so I always have good options of quality races each week.

What is your race programme looking like?
My first race is the 1.2 Beverbeek Classic on 23rd February and then after that I will be straight into all the usual March and April Belgium amateur classics and 1.2/2.2 races which is where I will be really aiming for results.
Are you going on a training camp with the team?
Sadly not. But this winter I have been lucky enough to stay with a good friend of mine, Jay Bowtell in Mallorca, as he is working out there. So I have been able to get some good blocks of quality training done in the sun which I hope will pay off.
When are you heading out to Europe?
For the first weekend of racing on 22nd/23rd February.
Would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that supports the fund and to the fund itself. I’m really proud to be able to represent the fund over on the continent again and hopefully can do you guys proud this year.
