Rider History: (When and what made you start cycling, who introduced you to cycling)
I came into cycling quite late at the age of 20 in the summer of 2006 having spent my teen years in athletics as a distance runner. However injury led me into cycling. My first races were as an individual before I found my first team (and appropriately sponsored by Flanders) Pacific Flanders RT in 2007. In 2008 I rode for Ciclos Uno in the UK also and after graduating Loughborough University later that year, I went into my first year as a ‘full time’ rider in 2009 riding for the newly formed Swedish Continental Team Magnus Maximus Coffee.com. Going into 2010 I felt it was important for me to go to belgium to continue to progress as a cyclist and from then onwards I have had the support of the Dave Rayner Fund. In 2010/2011 I rode for the Asfra Racing Team, where was in 2012 saw me racing for Soenens Construkt Glas.
Is the the first time you have had support from the DRF?
This will now be the 4th year I have been supported by the DRF, which I am extremely grateful for. The previous 3 years I have been based in Belgium where I have enjoyed my time, progressed well as cyclist and had successes along the way. For my 4th year with the fund I will be based in the US racing for the UCI Continental Team Smartstop P/B Mountain Khakis
What team are you joining in 2013?
For 2013 I will be racing with a UCI Continental Team in the US, Team SmartStop P/B Mountain Khakis. Based in North Carolina (I will initially be based in Athens Georgia) the team has previously had success on the criterium scene in the US. However they now also want to have this same success on the road racing scene and they see me as a rider that can help them with that. They also have a philosophy of trying to take on riders that have maybe gone under the radar/previously unnoticed but who have much value to a team and so we feel I am certainly the right fit for this team. Notable riders on the team include Adam Myerson (long time US Pro), Isaac Howe (strong performer on US cycling scene) as well as Ben Chaddock (current Canadian national criterium champion).

What is your race programme looking like?
I am mainly being brought over for the US National Road Racing Calendar (NRC) which is a mixture of stage and one day races. I will also have some criteriums including rounds of the National Criterium Calendar (NCC). The team will also be looking for wildcard invites into some of the biggest pro races in the US amongst the world tour teams, which may come with the right results and performances early in 2013. My early program is looking like beginning with a 2 day (3 stage) race in North Carolina to end training camp in the first week of March, followed by 3 stage races on the West Coast (Tucson Bicycle Classic, San Dimas Stage Race and Redlands Bicycle Classic) between the middle of March and early April.
Are you going on a training camp with the team?
Yes we have a training camp at the start of March in the teams location of Winston-Salem North Carolina. There will be then be further camps further in the year in preparation for specific races.
