  • likes:

Being good at cycling, dogs, walks on the beach, reading, tannage time
  • dislikes:

Being inactive, bad hygiene, cats with razor sharp claws, heights
  • favourite rider:

Philippe Gilbert, because anyone who can stay out the saddle and sprint for that long deserves big respect. Plus he races with just the right balance of brains versus aggression.
  • favourite race:

I enjoyed watching the Vuelta a Espana this year because it was so ridiculously hard it reduced the pros to mere mortals, which made for some passionate racing
  • If money was no object what would be the first thing you would buy:

A monkey butler able to chauffeur me around, and be an epic wingman in times of need.
  • What do you do when not racing:

Try and live like a normal person. Try and relax. Eat excessive amounts of ice cream to consol myself over past failures.
  • Race history:

I started riding when I moved to Somerset and realised that cricket was boring and I wanted to be good at something. Cycling appealed to me because as far as I’m concerned talent is a myth and if you train harder you go faster. This revelation pleased my simple soul and after doing a few local time trials I realised I could learn to like the sport and might actually be better than average at something. Whether it be because it was my first love, or because I’ve got an innate love of self mutilation, I’ve become better and better at time trials and I suppose it is begrudgingly my greatest strength. I’ve had some road race results along the way and in the future I think I can become a good stage racer. My 3rd place at the Tour des Deux Sevres is a showcase of what I’m capable of.
