AirForce Cycling Classic 2012
On the 7th June I flew to Washington DC to race the AirForce Cycling classic along with 5 of my Optum team mates. I was fresh off the back of a great block of training and feeling really motivated to have a good ride. The plan was to make it a hard race and set up our sprinter Leah for the win as she had finished on the top step of the podium the previous year. I rode aggressively throughout the race countering moves in a bid to get a select group away. I was able to drive the break as it proved to be a good move for us. I didn’t want to leave it to a one up sprint so I attacked my breakaway partner from team tibco and soloed to take my first national series win of the season. It was a great result for the team with Leah taking the bunch sprint for 3rd.
