The Etape du Dales is a classic event taking in some of the iconic climbs in the Yorkshire Dales, the “Etape du Dales” was established well before Yorkshire was chosen to host the 2014 Tour de France and some of the climbs you will ride in the Etape were used in the Tour.

As we celebrate 25 years of support for the sport of cycling that we love, we have made a few changes for 2020 to widen the appeal of the event and make cycling and the Yorkshire Dales more accessible for a wider audience. More details will appear here and on our Facebook page as they are finalised, so please follow us for up to date information.

New for 2020, there will be three routes of different lengths. The classic Etape du Dales Challenge, the Mini Etape – shorter but by no means an easier ride, and a new introductory family friendly route to introduce riders to the glories of the Yorkshire Dales without the need to be a mountain goat.

Choose the route that matches your experience and goals. Whichever route you take, each one of them features the opportunity to enjoy magnificent Yorkshire Dales scenery and warm Yorkshire hospitality.

Each of our feed stations are generously stocked with a variety of treats that should satisfy every dietary requirement. We do everything we can to make sure you have the energy you will need to keep you going all the way to the finish back at Wharfedale Rugby Club where a hearty finishing meal awaits.

The Etape rides cover classic routes that tackle a number of renown named climbs – and innumerable bumps and hills along the way. But you get to choose how challenging a ride you make it – from a leisurely day out in the Yorkshire Dales to a challenging epic demanding all your strength and experience.
