G.D Supermercados Froiz
Dave Rayner Funded Since: 2019

Is the first time you have had support from the Dave Rayner Fund?

Yes! I am very grateful to be selected as it has taken away a lot of the financial pressure of living abroad and allowed me to relax and focus on riding my bike.

What team are you joining?

I will be joining a Spanish team called G.D Supermercados Froiz

Tell us a bit about your team.

It's an elite & U23 team based in Pontevedra, South Galicia (just above the Portuguese border). They are one of the top ranked and well respected teams in Spain and since being run by Evaristo Portela 25 years ago, have topped the Spanish ranks 9 times, ahead of continental teams like Caja Rural. I’m going to be the first ever Brit to go there so I’m excited to try something new!

What is your race programme looking like?

My racing programme is going to be made up of Copa de España races (Spanish national series), races within the Galician tour, stage races and some international events. I’ll know my exact programme after the training camp as they need to see how everyone is going first.

Where are you going to live?

I am going to be living in a town called Pontevedra where the team is based, next to the western coast of Spain in Galicia. The terrain is ideal for cycling, I can head inland into the mountains or stick to the coast roads for rolling and flat roads. The views are amazing and they give you free cake with coffee at the cafs!

What bike will you be riding and who supplies the team kit?

We are using the BH ultralight frame equipped with ultegra di2 and rotor cranks. The team kit is supplied by Ottobosley.
